Soho – an area synonymous with great music venues and historic gigs. An area where the likes of Hendrix, The Who and Zeppelin cut their teeth – and where to this day wonderful concerts happen nightly. But there are fears – Gentrification is the word on many lips. As bulldozers move onto Denmark Street and the last live music venue closes on London’s Tin Pan Alley.
According to us here at TALENTBANQ it’s time to reverse the trend. Aligned with the Mayor’s #SoundsLikeLondon event taking place throughout June and as part of Music Venue Trust’s Fightback London campaign to support independent venues, in partnership with L’Escargot we’re announcing The Soho Music Festival on June 16th; a one-day celebration of independent music and musicians, to be held at one of Soho’s most famous addresses. A festival that is designed to grow over the next three years to bring back music to basements, small rooms and rooftops in the bohemian district flanked by Oxford Street and Shaftesbury Avenue.
We have programmed a 12 hour live ‘music safari’ to take place in The Salon Noir, Salon Vert and The Library at L’Escargot on Greek Street. Heralded as one of the capitals finest French restaurants, its upstairs rooms whisper the stories of times gone-by and provide exquisitely intimate spaces to discover new music.
From 11am to 11pm L’Escargot will be host to no less than 10 red hot, breaking acts – each chosen for their ability to deliver exceptional live performance. Uniquely the day will be divided into three sessions, where the audience moves from room to room.
The artistic line up ranges from Classical Crossover Piano, through Latin, to UK Country, Swing, Rock and possibly the wildest Celtic harp ever to grace a stage. All this plus of course an after-party because in Soho when the music stops, the music starts!
Naturally there’s a chance to eat some very fine food and thanks to sponsors Casanova and D1 the afternoon session is preceded by an ice cold glass of Prosecco, and the evening session with a long D1 London Gin cocktail.
Here’s how it all works…
Arrive at L’Escargot between 10 and 11am on June 16th to be greeted with fresh coffee and croissant.
Thereafter attendees will enjoy a ‘Music Safari’ – three sessions of music Morning, Afternoon and Evening – each consisting of three different artists playing simultaneously in each of L’Escargot’s elegant rooms.
There are breaks for lunch and dinner where patrons are free to explore Soho, or avail of a £25 credit per person to dine at L’Escargot.
At 10pm the festival moves into after-party mode with the tenth artist of the day taking the stage in the Salon Noir – and a surprise guest or two to join the jam.
Tickets for the Soho Music Festival 2018 are limited to just 50 pairs at £99 per person to include:
- Coffee and Croissant on arrival
- A music safari of 9 independent artists over three sessions
- £25 towards lunch or dinner at host venue – L’Escargot
- Afternoon Ice cold prosecco by Casanova
- Evening long London Gin Cocktail by D1
- After party with 10th artist and unannounced guest
- Six month membership of L’Escargot’s Club Privee
- Founders VIP ticket to The Soho Music Festival 2019
- Plus, Bragging rights that you were there forever.

TALENTBANQ Presents…
Lisa Wright and her formidable band take over 229 for one night only to launch Lisa’s new EP “Mind of Mine”. Having opened the show for Cam Country and Phil Vassar last week, Lisa is on FIRE at the moment!
With Lawrence Hill opening this is going to be a very special gig.

Lisa will be selling her signed EP for £5 on the night.
7pm Doors
Lawrence’s music is simple and catchy. He has received significant radio play from BBC Introducing and is a Playlisted Recording Artist on Spotify.
Lawrence supported 80s star Kim Wilde on her European tour in 2016 after she discovered him in a local pub and became a big fan of his works. She says her personal favourite is the EP “Until The End Of Time” which she plays continuously in her car.
At the beginning of 2017 Lawrence gave his fans a big shock by making an unannounced appearance on the new ITV show, The Voice UK.
“Lawrence is a really good singer, he’s amazing… and I’m glad that Jesus pushed the button”
— Will.i.am (The Tonight Show with David Walliams)

At first glance; Lisa Wright is a 5ft, blonde, Essex girl who seemingly charms her way into the audiences’ affection by cracking jokes and telling stories but then she begins to play… and the room goes silent.
BBC Introducing announced her as one of their emerging ‘Sound of 2017s’ and was handpicked by BBC 6 to represent the BBC at Latitude Festival 2017.
Described as ‘Carole King meets Patty Griffin meets John Mayer’, Lisa was championed by the Nashville Songwriters Association as their ‘One to Watch’; after she impressed the transatlantic audience with her unique and intelligent songwriting. She was also selected as a Song Suffragette songwriter in Nashville’s female-only singer-songwriter showcase.
Lisa has released two EPs which both entered into the iTunes Country Charts at No.3 – making Lisa the only independent, female artist in the Top 30 at the time.
It’s understandable to see why Lisa has often been described as “the UKs best kept secret”, but that’s all set to change …

Bird
7.30pm
Bird is a multi-instrumentalist, alternative pop singer-songwriter who at six years old first picked up a cello. She joined the local youth orchestra soon after which she continued to play in throughout her childhood but the tutors generally thought her too undisciplined as she swayed in her chair… So she found an outlet for her passion at a place with seemingly no limits to self-expression, behind the drums in an all girl punk band…
In 2016 she co-wrote and featured on the title track and second single for Belgium band Hooverphonic. The album went straight in the charts at #1 and her single went top 10 shortly after. The album is currently certified gold. She also co-wrote and produced on platinum certified artist Aura’s hit album and has worked with numerous international artists including Vanessa Mae, Kenneth Bager, Emeli Sande, Just Jack and Café del Mar.
Laura Oakes
8.15pm
Laura Oakes is a British Country Music Artist from Liverpool, England. Coming from a huge Liverpudlian family, where everyone sings or play an instrument, it was only a matter of time before Laura caught the music bug.
‘There is nothing like performing live,’ says Laura, who has spent the last year playing shows including supporting fellow country artists The Shires, Ward Thomas and Raintown. She has also just released her self-titled EP and received nominations in the Song Of The Year category for Snakes & Ladders and Female Vocalist of the Year from The British Country Music Awards and UKCountryRadio.com.
Mark Sullivan
9pm
Mark Sullivan is an award singer songwriter & guitarist from Stevenage. At 15 years old, Mark formed his first band ‘Gekko’ which became one of the most accomplished local bands in his home town of Hertfordshire. After embarking on his solo career, Mark has played in many iconic venues including The Troubadour, Elland Road Stadium, Ricoh Arena, Bolton Arena and Wembley Arena.
After recording an EP in America with grammy nominated producer Steve Greenwell, featuring Lenny Kravitz’s bassist Jack Daley on bass, Mark was invited to London TV to talk about his music and blossoming career. This led to a slot at the first Major festival, Isle Of Wight 2016, and has since played The Big Feastival (20,000) and Camper Calling (6,000), Cornbury Festival, Meraki Festival, Camper Calling, Herts Pride Festival and more!

To be there contact billmansfield238@hotmail.com
And by the way – this event is part of a series that has so far raised over £27,000 for The Motor Neurone Disease Association
Let’s pump that total!

It’s with great pleasure to announce that Georgia and the Vintage Youth have joined our TALENTBANQ roster.
Georgia is a 22-year-old Essex girl with big blonde hair, a big Iconic voice and a cool little Jazz band called the Vintage Youth delivering a punchy, brassy sound that is both vintage and fresh (hence the name).
Their music gets you tapping your feet (think Jools Holland or Paolo Nutini) whilst Georgia’s ballads are stripped back allowing her powerful vocal to take you somewhere inside yourself and make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end (think Adele or Amy Winehouse).

Enjoy!
