London based singer-songwriter Gertrud Aasaroht is all about bringing the house down with smooth, dancey grooves and powerhouse vocals.
Growing up in a small town in Estonia, her musical dexterity was greatly influenced by the local folk and choral music. Mixing her roots with her interest in soul, R&B and jazz led to compelling and dynamic vocals that are in perfect synergy with her energetic and captivating stage presence.
Gertrud’s music is a mixture of R&B, soul, 90’s synth-funk and dance pop giving the listener a refreshing version of a blast from the past. Her lyrics are relatable, talking about the conflicts between the heart and the mind, trying to make sense of her feelings.
Having lived in London for only a few years, Gertrud has had the opportunity to sing her own original music as well as backing vocals for other artists at multiple renowned venues around London such as Islington Assembly Hall, Omeara London, The Jazz Cafe, Ronnie Scott’s and The Half Moon in Putney.
Gertrud has wowed us at TALENTBANQ with performances at The Green Note and The Ned, with many more to come!
