Sophie Kilburn is a Derbyshire born singer, songwriter who merges melancholic pop with fiery indie-angst. Her bold sonic fusion of old-school rocker & modern pop warrior is inspired by Alt-Pop heroes like Haim, Phoebe Bridgers & Self-Esteem, with a heavy emphasis on lyrics & storytelling. From releasing “alt-indie banger” (Fame Magazine) Indigo Fever, Broke, Sophie has received global recognition as an “undeniable songwriting talent” (XS Noize), as well as backing from BBC Introducing and Mahogany Sessions.
Last year, Sophie released her debut EP My Room Made Public, including driving indie-pop banger Movements that featured on Get In Her Ears (Hoxton Radio) as their "one to watch". Renowned BBC DJ Presenter, Dean Jackson, has hailed Sophie "as an artist to get excited about". Sophie recently released two singles off her upcoming EP Not Bitter, Just Bored: self-love and reflective anthem Afterthought, which charted in Amazing Pop and was featured in the New Female Voices on Amazing Radio UK/US, and emotionally intelligent fuck you song for masses, 20%, which landed East Midlands BBC Introducing Track of Week being called "a phenomenal track".
Sophie has now released her third single off the EP, Hating on a Heartache, a heart-baring indie pop anthem taking the listener through her struggle to love again. The single has landed Radio X airplay and was playlisted on the Independent Arts playlist. The Not Bitter Just Bored EP will be out on Thursday 27th October, along with a live launch night, taking her project to a headline show at The Grace, London on the same day.
