GéNIA was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, where she was taught piano by her great-grandmother, the renowned pianist Regina Horowitz (a sister of the legendary pianist Vladimir Horowitz) and went on to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Trinity Laban Conservatoire.
GéNIA made her London debut as a concert pianist in the Park Lane Group Young Artist Series, which was followed by concert tours in the UK, Europe and USA. London performance venues include the Wigmore Hall, Barbican, Southbank Centre, Olympia, Kings Place, St. John's Smith Square and St Martin in the Fields.
Her numerous accolades include the Premier Prix GSMD, the Silver Medal from the Worshipful Company of Musicians, the Founders Prize for Excellence, the Dame Myra Hess Award and the Craxton Trust Award to name just a few.
GéNIA has collaborated with an eclectic range of artists and composers, as an innovative composer and performer who has also crossed over into the world of pop music. She commissioned over 30 works for piano and electronics and premiered numerous works by contemporary composers including Howard Skempton, Gabriel Prokofiev, Karen Tanaka, Hayden Parsey, Max de Wardener, to name just a few. She has also worked with outstanding artists such as the Brodsky Quartet, Andy Sheppard and Jason Yarde.
Since the start of the war in Ukraine, GéNIA has been actively involved in raising funds for medical and emergency help for Ukraine, and has set up a UK micro-trust ‘Support Kharkiv’.
