About Lauren Housley

Born and raised in Yorkshire, Lauren was a National Dance Champion by the age of 10 and began moving into theatre acting shortly afterwards. Her passion to sing and write songs came unexpectedly at around the age of 14, “It came over me one day like an uncontrollable urge. I had ideas about the world and personal situations that I needed to get out of my body and mind. Like a flick of a switch I was writing songs, without even realising that’s what they were.”

Arriving onto the UK music scene in 2016 with her self-released limited edition debut album, Sweet Surrender, her fusion of Country, Blues and Soul quickly garnered the right attention. 6 tracks from the album received regular BBC Radio play, with her debut single, Ghost Town Blues, being added to the BBC Radio 2 playlist for 4 weeks. Bob Harris and Paul Sexton have selected her music for play on their specialist BBC shows and BBC Radio London’s Robert Elms made her track, The Waiting Game, one of his favourite tracks of the year.

This national exposure brought her to the attention of the promoters at Live Nation. “An out of the blue phone call and I was booked to play at Bluesfest at the 02 Arena, along with Van Morrison, Tom Jones and Dave Matthews Band. The irony of this was that I was trying to buy tickets to Bluesfest before the phone call.”

She released The Beauty of This Life in late 2017, which features the best of her limited edition album, and 5 new songs.
Lauren and her band have been honoured to open the stage for artists such as Van Morrison, Jack Savoretti, Vintage Trouble, JP Cooper and First Aid Kit as well as travel the UK playing sold-out headlining tours. She has been featured as ‘Artist of the Month’ by Caffé Nero and was selected to play on the main stage at the UK Americana Festival in Hackney.
